Jeg har brug for lidt hjælp til at opklare hvorfor en switch er
genstartet, switchen er en Cisco 3750G-24TS som er stacket med en
switch mere af samme type. Det er tilsyneladende kun switch2 der er
genstartet.
Jeg har kopieret "sh log" og sh ver" til offentlig skue

Se http://tinyurl.com/ytckb8 og kontakt din Cisco-forhandler. Send
output fra 'sh ver', 'sh stacks', 'sh context', 'sh region', 'sh
tech', din console log og eventuelle crashinfo-filer.
Umiddelbart ligner det en software-fejl, hvorfor en opgradering af
stack'en til mere tidssvarende software kan være en god idé. (IOS
12.1(19)EA er 4 år gammel og vist også end-of-life på 3750, som på
andre 12.1E platforme).

Hvilken version vil du anbefale? Jeg kan ikke finde nogen GD som jeg
umiddelbart helst vil rulle på, der er dog en del ED hvor den mest
tiltalende for mig er 12.2(40)SE (CAT3700 - IP BASE W/O CRYPTO WITH
WEB BASED DEV MGR). Den omtalte version har jeg iøvrigt rullet på den
i indlæget crashede stack som ikke har haft det dårligt siden...
Det drejer sig om ca. 90 stacks med 1-8 switche i hver.
Hvordan for man et godt overblik over hvilken software man bør
installere hvornår?..

På DSBU-switchene (2960, 2970, 3560, 3750 etc) vedligeholdes software
ikke i separate release trains, som på mange andre Cisco-platforme.
Der kommer i stedet en ny release (med både bugfixes og nye features)
sådan ca. halvårligt og der kommer så bugfixede versioner af den
release indtil næste feature release. Fx 12.2(35)SE -> 12.2(35)SE1 ->
12.2(35)SE2 etc. til 12.2(37)SE -> 12.2(37)SE1 -> 12.2(40)SE.
Det betyder, at mest bugfixede release altid er den nyeste release. I
en del tilfælde er nyeste release dog en feature release og altså
potentielt en release med *nye* bugs. Nogle gange kan det derfor være
en god idé at blive på en lidt ældre release med de bugs man kender
end at gå på en ny release med bugs man ikke kender.
Jeg kender ikke dit setup i detaljer, så jeg vil ikke anbefale noget.

Nej, der er ingen og kommer ingen på switchene.

Man kan bruge noget tid med release notes og Bug Toolkit, man kan købe
advanced services-aftale af Cisco, eller man kan bruge sin foretrukne
Cisco-partner til den slags emner. Desuden er der naturligvis ikke
noget, der slår egne, grundige tests.

PS: Med stort set al Cisco-software er der undtagelser for alle
regler.
