Hi.

Saw this House sparrow alike bird together with a lot of House sparrow.

But, I don't think it IS a House sparrow ?

It was a little smaller/rounder than the sparrows, and behavied like a
Dunnock..

So, my guess = Young Dunnock (Prunella modularis) ?

http://orre.mine.nu/id/id5/id5.htm

Thanks

//Ben

It's a young Sparrow. The bill is wrong for Dunnock.

Cheers,

Phil

Ok, but then it has to be something wrong with it.. it doesnt behave
like the other young sparrows. Not shy at all, I went out.. it just
stayed and picking in the grass.. taking no notice of me.

But yes.. it looks like a House sparrow.. but more like a "ball" all the
time.. probably not well I think..

Thanks

Young birds are often slow to react and seem quite trusting having not
learnt yet the fleeing techniques of adults. Maybe it was also an 'only
child' and fed very well therefore being a bit overweight and lazy.
Phil is right about the bill though, Dunnock's bill is more delicate
and pointed, less broad at the base, the sparrows beak is large and
built to handle fat seeds. Good photographs though (and of the RBM in
your other post).
