VirtualPC and CD-ROM drives
Fra : Per Erik Ronne

Is there a way to let VirtualPC

1. Accept more than one CD-ROM drive?
2. Accept a mounted CD-ROM image file as a CD-ROM inserted in an
accepted CD-ROM drive?

Reason: I can use my Encyclopædia Britannica on the Mac side through
such a mounted CD-ROM image file - but not on Windows [be it a Wintel
computer or through the Apple DOS Compatibility Card on my old
6100/60/72]. And I have now purchased /Oxford English Dictionary/ [the
20 volume English dictionary] which only runs on Windows [the old
Mac-version is sold out]. The dictionary can't be fully installed on the
harddisk so the data CD-ROM has to be inserted every time you want to
use it.

Maybe I should add, that I will be using it on a G4/867 that is going to
run MacOS X 10.1 - though, of course, it is currently only running MacOS
9.2.

There are at least two PC programs that I have used with VPC which
converts a CD rom into a file on your hard drive and then the PC mounts
it like a CD rom. With that Encyclo. set you could sure fill up a
harddrive fast. The one I am currently using is Norton's "Virtual Drive"
