ANSEL to Unicode Conversion Table
Do not use it; Read the explanation !!!
Despite an intensive search on the web I could not find a full ANSEL
specification. Therefore I tried a guess from some sources available in the
web. They are all given below. Download them and decide for yourself whether
this table is correct or not. Its not an official posting! Use it at your
own risk!!

Definition of: ANSEL character set
(American National Standard Extended Latin) An ANSI character set that
supports diacritical marks for Latin-based foreign languages. It uses the
additional 128 values provided by the eighth bit of the byte to store the
diacritic for that character. ANSEL is also known as the American Library
Association character set. GEDCOM genealogical files use ANSEL characters.
See ANSI character set and GEDCOM.
Definition of: ANSI character set
The ANSI-standard character set that defines 256 characters. The first 128
are ASCII, and the second 128 contain math and foreign language symbols,
which are different than those on the PC. See extended ASCII and ANSEL
character set.
Definition of: GEDCOM
(GEnealogy Data COMmunications) A file format for genealogy data. Developed
by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, GEDCOM is a tag-based
text format that all genealogy programs export for data exchange. There are
also many proprietary tags in use. GEDCOM files are stored as ANSEL
characters, which support the diacritical marks of foreign languages. See
ANSEL character set.
