When starting the PC the screen very often go into black and I have to
restart. Often I have to restart several times. When the PC is running
I have no problem with the screen. Do any know how to avoid this?

Problem may be powersaving mode. After x minutes where PC is idle, it turns
off display to save power. On some installtions this may hang the PC (seen
it on IBM Thinkpads and Win98)

Try see if powersaving mode is activated for the display.
