HANOVER, Germany--Germany's top power supplier RWE and Swiss partner
Ascom said Friday they would begin offering customers the first
commercial technology for high-speed Internet access via electricity
cables this summer. If it lives up to its billing, RWE PowerNet--which
will be offered to customers from July 1--could provide high-speed
transmission of data, speech and video and constant Web connections
more cheaply than rival phone and TV-cable systems. --Reuters
