Dog Star Man vs. Dog Man Star
Fra : Michelle

What are the odds? I know that Brett Anderson from Suede came up with
the title of their 2nd album "Dog Man Star" because those are his three
favorite words. I'm not sure when the Sort Sol song called "Dog Star Man"
was made but somehow I think it was before Suede? But what exactly is a Dog
Star Man? :) Should I know? :o/ I'm not good at analyzing Sort Sol lyrics.
:( Did Brett maybe get inspired by Sort Sol or vice versa? Suede do like
Denmark a lot. I think it's a bit strange that's all, the title thingy. :)
I'm sure I'd fall in love with Denmark too if I went there.

What about the now semi-legendary Andrew Wood/Mother Love Bone song
"Star Dog Champion"? Perhaps a crucial influence on both Suede and Sort
Sol? Not so farfetched an assumption, methinks.

There are some films from the 60's called Dog Star Man. They may be related
in some way, maybe not. Apparently, they were made by someone called Stan
Brakhage. I found the following about him on IMDB: "His 1964 masterpiece
"Dog Star Man" is listed alongside "Citizen Kane", "Star Wars" and the
Zapruder footage of the John F. Kennedy assassination as among the most
important films ever made, according to the National Film Registry at the
Library of Congress." I wouldn't be surprised, if both Brett and Sort Sol
knew about these movies (there are 5), though the don't seem to be
mainstream.

Oh interesting, well Sort Sol probably got inspired by that film then.
