TNEF's Enough 1.0b2.1 Read Me

Description

TNEF's Enough allows Macs to read and extract files from Microsoft TNEF
stream files. The files are usually received by SMTP based e-mail
programs from Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft Outlook users. The SMTP
based e-mail program will usually either receive a MIME attachment named
"winmail.dat" or a MIME attachment with the type "application/ms-tnef."

The file is a rich text (or MAPI) message that is sent from Outlook to
Exchange. When Exchange sends the message to an outside server it writes
the MAPI message as a MIME attachment. The unfortunate side effect of
this plan is that if the Outlook user has someone in their address book
as a person who can receive "Rich Text" then the user will receive the
TNEF file whether the user uses Outlook or not.

The Classic 68K version of TNEF's Enough has been tested on MacOS 8.1
and higher. Since the CFM68K extension will run on older versions of
MacOS it is quite possible that the Classic 68K version of 1.0b2 runs on
older systems. If you have an older version of MacOS and are having
trouble with either the Classic 68K or Classic FAT version of 1.0b2 then
try the 68K version of 1.0b1 which does not require the CFM68K extension.

I built the Carbon version of TNEF's Enough against CarbonLib 1.1f3 but
tested against 1.0.4 without problems. If you experience any problems
with the Carbon version let me know what version of the CarbonLib
extension you are using.

The optional feature of mapping file extensions to file types requires
the latest version of Internet Config to be installed and configured.
From MacOS 8.5 and higher this is a standard part of the system. For
older systems you can get the latest version of Internet Config (version
2.0.2 as of this writing) here:

Instructions

After saving your TNEF attachment out of your e-mail program to the
Finder either drag the file onto the TNEF's Enough application or open
TNEF's Enough, choose "Open" from the "File" menu and select the TNEF
file.

TNEF's Enough will either display that the file is not a TNEF file, the
file is a TNEF file but does not contain any embedded files or will
present you with a save dialog for each embedded file it finds.

C. Software Installation

If you are using the diskette version of the software, make a backup
copy of your diskettes before you install the software. Then follow
these steps:

1. Turn on your printer.

2. Insert your driver CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

3. Double-click the Installer icon. When you see the initial screen,
click Continue.

4. The dialog box that appears allows you to install software:

- Easy install. Select this option to install all the software
necessary, including the EPSON Stylus COLOR 760 drivers, EPSON Monitor3
and ColorSync printer profiles.

5. Click Install to copy the selected software to your hard disk.

D. Accessing the Printer Driver

The printer driver settings are accessible from two dialog boxes: Print
and Page Setup. Most settings are available from both dialog boxes;
however, to change the paper size or define a new one, use the Page
Setup dialog box. Select Print or Page Setup from the File menu of your
application to open these dialog boxes.

IMPORTANT: The driver settings are not saved from one application to the
next. However, the settings are saved with each document and are
restored if the settings are made from the Page Setup dialog box.
Whenever you exit one application and start up a new one, check that the
printer settings are still appropriate. For example, if you choose Photo
Quality Ink Jet Paper in one application, you will need to re-select it
if you exit the application and open a new application.

assigned a separate USB port number, such as USB port1, USB port 2, and
so on. Performing any of the following functions may cause the USB port
numbers for the individual units to change:

Please check the assigned USB port number in the Chooser after
performing any of these functions.

It is preferred to power the iMac on and wait until the desktop appears
prior to powering on your USB hub (if necessary) and your Stylus COLOR
760 printer.

When unplugging a USB connection, please wait a few seconds before
plugging the connection back in. Otherwise the Macintosh may not
recognize your printer and you may be unable to print correctly.

EPSON Monitor3 reserves approximately half the unused memory of the
system so that the system can handle other applications while Background

Background Printing can operate with less than 24MB of memory, but
printing may be slow. Do not use Background Printing if print speed is
too slower.

If the installation of a new application makes it impossible to use
Background Printing, this is because some of the Extension files used by
Background Printing have been overwritten as previous versions of
themselves by the new application 's installer. Re-install the printer
driver to solve this problem.

This option gives you sharper edges in text, solid graphics, and line
art, but also increases your Macintosh memory requirements. Finest
Detail may also solve any moire problems if you print an image scanned
at 200 dpi or higher resolution. Unless you need extreme precision in

turn off this option because it may slow down printing.

Be aware that Finest Detail may not sharpen the edges of rotated text.
Also, if only a portion of your image prints, you may need to switch

When printing at Photo - 1440dpi, Finest Detail is automatically turned

Preview window in Layout dialog:
Preview window, on the left side of the Layout dialog box, may not
reproduce the true colors if your display is set to 256 colors. Set it
to 32,000 colors or more for best results.

High Speed Setting:
If High Speed is selected, your printed image may be distorted (it may
look as if water was dropped on it). This is typically caused by a
misaligned print head. Run the Print Head Alignment utility to correct
this. For the best print quality, turn off High Speed.

Installer:
The Installer will not behave normally if a virus protection program is
running. Turn off virus protection programs before starting the
installation.

turned off.
