Anyone for stirring up?
In 60 minutes' program The State of Denmark the chief editor of the danish
newspaper Politiken, Tøger Seidenfaden said about Jyllands-Posten's
publication of the cartoons:
"...they were doing it to get a reaction from the local Muslim religious
minority. And they said so very explicitly. They explained on their front
page that they were doing this, and I quote, "To teach religious Muslims in
Denmark that in our society, they must accept to be scorned, mocked and
ridiculed." - "They were stirring it up?" Simon asked. - "It was very much
stirring it up," Seidenfaden replied. "
But the text on the front page of Jyllands-Posten goes: "The modern secular
society is dismissed by some Muslims. They claim a privileged position, when
they insist on special deference for their religious feelings. This is
incompatible with a laical democracy and freedom of expression, where one
must be ready to accept scorn, mockery and ridicule."
Tøger Seidenfaden claims he is quoting Jyllands-Posten but the said qoute is
in his own rather twisted wording. The false quotation makes Jyllands-Posten
seem arrogant and condescending wanting to "teach" the Muslims a lesson.

TS's "citat" plus moms oversat: "...for at lære religiøse muslimer i
Danmark, at i vores samfund, må de finde sig i at blive hånet, spottet og
latterliggjort."
